The Agroecology Network, led by Professor Steffen Boehm and funded by a Nexus Network networking grant, has launched the Agroecology research network website.
The website provides a platform for networking, research, and engagement related to agroecology in the UK and includes a database of agroecological businesses, projects, and initiatives in the UK.
Agroecology is a broad field involving ecologically-sensitive agricultural production, social and community relationships, and political contestation of mainstream agriculture. Agroecology is understood in different ways by different people. There are many actors involved in agroecological food production, from seed retailers, to farmers, to volunteers, to managers, to produce retail and distribution. Each actor works in a different context and has different insights into agroecology. Understanding the perspectives from these diverse actors across a broad field can be difficult but is also important for grasping the dynamics involved in agroecological businesses.
The Agroecology research network website also provides a forum for those interested in agroecology to interact.
